Wilderness Trailing Dogs

Wilderness Trailing Dogs and their handlers are suited to the physical skills required in rugged terrain. They will follow the scent path of a specific person and are effective when scent is present at a confirmed point last seen. Scent-discriminating dogs can help determine a direction of travel and reduce the size of a search area to eventually lead to the lost subject. Wilderness dogs must deal with animal distractions; deer, birds, squirrels and not chase them or be too distracted by them, be able to work on and off leash with a reliable recall.
